Roblox players targeted by fraudulent free Robux scams

Cybercriminals are targeting Roblox players, particularly children and adolescents, through fraudulent schemes promising free Robux. These scams often appear on social media platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Discord, using fake giveaways, gift cards, or purported “Robux generators” to lure victims.

According to cybersecurity firm ESET, these traps are designed to look legitimate by mimicking Roblox interfaces or using familiar elements like surveys and exclusive rewards. The primary objectives of these attacks include stealing account credentials, collecting personal data, and distributing malware. Common tactics involve directing users to external websites that require them to log in or download software to claim their promised virtual currency.

Legitimate ways to obtain Robux include direct purchases or earning them through the official Roblox ecosystem, such as through developer activities or authorized partner programs. Users are warned to avoid any third-party site claiming to generate currency for free, as these are almost exclusively attempts at account theft or data harvesting.
