Roblox projects reduced bookings after safety measures shrink user activity

Roblox Corp. forecast third‑quarter bookings of $1.58 billion to $1.65 billion, falling short of Wall Street expectations of $1.77 billion. The outlook prompted the company's shares to drop roughly 12% in after‑hours trading.

The company said stricter age‑verification steps, introduced after heightened scrutiny of its child‑safety practices, have made onboarding harder and limited access to engagement‑driving features. As a result, average daily active users (DAU) decreased 7% sequentially to 123 million in the second quarter, though they remain 10% higher than a year earlier. Users aged 18 and over made up 27% of age‑verified DAUs and generate more than 50% higher monetization than younger users.

Separately, data‑analytics firm Apptopia reported that weekly active users and time spent per DAU among 17‑ to 25‑year‑old players on Roblox continued to grow year‑over‑year in Q2 2026 and into July 2026, with a noted gender split among participants.
