RoboCup Humanoid AI Seminar Set for August 5

The robot‑AI media outlet RoboSta will host an online seminar on 5 August 2026 (15:00‑16:25 JST) titled “RoboCup is entering the Humanoid & Physical‑AI era.” The session is led by Okada Hiroyuki, chair of the RoboCup Japan Committee and professor at Tokyo Information Design College, with RoboSta editor‑in‑chief Yōji Kanzaki moderating.

The seminar will review the evolution of RoboCup since its 1997 inception, outline the 2050 goal of fielding a fully autonomous humanoid team capable of winning the FIFA World Cup, and examine recent trends such as the rapid shift from wheeled robots to bipedal humanoids. Commercial platforms like Unitree Robotics and Booster Robotics are highlighted as accelerating research and real‑world application. A report from the RoboCup 2026 World Championship held in South Korea will be presented, showcasing the latest technologies and team performances.

Organisers note that Japan’s participation in the humanoid league has declined, and the discussion will address talent development, academia‑industry collaboration, and the future outlook through 2030. Registration closes on 3 August at noon, with a participation fee of ¥11,550 (tax included) for non‑members.
