Robot vacuum market misleads with inflated Pascal specs as Ecovacs Deebot X12 reviewed

Manufacturers of robot vacuums have been promoting suction power using Pascal measurements taken in sealed laboratory conditions. These figures appear impressive—up to 35,000 Pa for some 2026 models—but they do not reflect real‑world cleaning ability because they ignore airflow volume. The industry stresses that the relevant metric is Air Watts, which combines pressure with air flow. For example, Dyson’s 360 Vis Nav robot delivers 65 AW, while competitors such as Dreame and Roborock fall between 35 AW and 55 AW.

A separate review examined the Ecovacs Deebot X12 Omnicyclone, a premium robot priced around €1,300. The unit features a large water‑tank system for mopping, a sophisticated mapping process using a ToF sensor and cameras, and a detailed control app that lets users customize cleaning maps, power levels, and water flow. It lacks a LiDAR scanner, which some reviewers note as a limitation, but overall the test highlights its strong suction and comprehensive cleaning capabilities despite the high cost.
