Robotic and telesurgery expand in Brazil's healthcare sector
Brazil is seeing an expansion in the use of robotic and telesurgery within its public health system and specialized medical centers. Hospital do Amor has successfully performed 34 remote robotic surgeries via the SUS (Unified Health System) in just three months. These oncological telesurgeries, which utilize high-capacity, low-latency connections, allow specialists to operate on patients in different regions, such as connecting units in São Paulo and Rondônia.
In Londrina, the Hospital Evangélico is hosting the II Robotic Surgery Symposium on November 5. Led by specialist Ricardo Brandina, the event will feature a live broadcast of a robotic procedure and discussions on the technology's ability to improve precision, reduce blood loss, and accelerate patient recovery. The hospital has invested significantly in robotic equipment to become a regional center for advanced medicine and professional training.
