Robotic surgery adoption grows across Central European hospitals

Medical facilities across Central Europe are increasingly adopting robotic-assisted surgery to improve precision and patient recovery.

In Poland, the Silesian Hospital in Cieszyn has begun using the Versius modular robot system, funded by KPO resources. The investment aims to modernize the hospital's infrastructure and provide advanced treatment locally. Similarly, in the Czech Republic, the Regional Hospital in Příbram is implementing the da Vinci system. Surgeons there note that the technology provides high-resolution 3D visualization and enhanced dexterity compared to traditional laparoscopy, allowing for more precise work in hard-to-reach anatomical spaces.

In Austria, the Ordensklinikum Linz Barmherzige Schwestern reports that nearly half of its pancreatic procedures are now performed using the da Vinci robot. This minimally invasive approach, utilized through their ‘RoboLab’ concept, is specifically noted for aiding in complex tumor removals by allowing for faster wound healing and fewer complications compared to open surgery. In Germany, the Klinikum Wolfsburg has also successfully performed its first robot-assisted prostate surgery using the da Vinci system.
