Robotic Prostate Surgeries Advance Urological Care in Uberlândia, Brazil

On 1 July, three prostate operations were completed using a robotic platform at the Institute of Robotic Surgery of the Triangle (ICR.T) in Uberlândia, Brazil. The procedures included two radical prostatectomies for localized prostate cancer and a transvesical robotic prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Urologists Dr. Leandro Alves de Oliveira and Dr. Victor Hugo Borges Silva performed the surgeries.

The surgeons said the robot provides “amplified three‑dimensional vision, articulated instruments and greater precision, allowing more delicate tissue dissection,” and that it offers a minimally invasive approach associated with less blood loss, smaller incisions, reduced postoperative pain and a faster recovery compared with traditional open techniques. The case illustrates the growing incorporation of robotic technology in Brazil’s urological treatment landscape.
