Robotics market booms as industrial sales rise and service robot leader KEENON expands globally

In 2024, global industrial robot sales reached 229,000 units, with 70% of the market concentrated in Japan, China, the United States, Germany and South Korea, according to the International Federation of Robotics. Over 340 manufacturers and more than 340 integrators now supply industrial robots, while service‑robot providers number in the hundreds. Professional service robots accounted for 11.5% of total robot sales, delivering 24,207 units and $2.2 billion in revenue, while personal service robots sold 4.7 million units, raising the sector’s turnover by 28%. The IFR forecasts industrial robot sales of 400,000 units and professional service‑robot revenue exceeding $19 billion by 2025, and analysts project the combined robotics market could surpass $380 billion by 2030.

Separately, Shanghai‑based KEENON Robotics, the world’s largest commercial service‑robot vendor, has shipped more than 100,000 units across 60+ countries and retained its top market share for three consecutive years. Its XMAN‑R1 humanoid demo showcased 275 TOPS AI processing, dual 7‑DoF arms and a data‑intensive training regime, while the company acknowledges that fully autonomous humanoids remain at least five years away. KEENON’s fleet now operates in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, airports and casinos—including six robot types at Shangri‑La Hong Kong—leveraging a design that avoids overly humanlike appearances to foster user trust. The firm’s extensive operational data collection is positioning it to shape the next phase of service‑robot growth.
