Robotics industry advances Physical AI through industrial automation and research partnerships
The robotics industry is shifting focus toward Physical AI, moving from simple movement to practical, problem-solving applications in real-world environments.
Agile Robots and its subsidiary Franka Robotics recently showcased advanced automation solutions in Europe. In Zurich, they presented the Diana 7 for force-controlled assembly and the Thor series for flexible robotic welding. In Bremen, Franka Robotics demonstrated workflows for collecting structured training data through teleoperation to build scalable robot learning datasets.
In China, AIROBO (AinoBo) has entered a five-year partnership with the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The collaboration aims to address technical challenges in scaling heterogeneous robots within complex real-world spaces. The partnership will focus on spatial intelligence, multi-robot coordination, and creating a unified operating layer for managing diverse robot brands and interacting with building infrastructure.
