Robotics initiatives gain momentum in Brazilian municipal schools
Municipalities in Brazil are expanding robotics education through legislative support and competitive participation. In Volta Redonda, the City Council approved Bill No. 229/2025, authored by Councilwoman Gisele Klingler. The proposal, which now awaits the mayor's decision, aims to integrate pedagogical robotics into the municipal school system as an extracurricular or elective activity. The initiative seeks to foster skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while promoting logical reasoning, creativity, and teamwork.
In Duque de Caxias, students from the Dr. Ricardo Augusto de Azeredo Vianna Municipal School recently participated in a national robotics competition. Supported by partnerships with Positivo and LEGO, the team developed a project focused on monitoring tropical forest fires. Despite a brief 15-day preparation period, the team secured 16th place among 20 participating teams, outscoring several technology-focused institutions.
