Robotics integration expands in retail and healthcare sectors

Various sectors are implementing robotics to improve efficiency and visibility. In the retail sector, ElectronicPartner and Terra Robotics are launching a pilot project at a MEDIMAX store in Berlin-Pankow. The initiative aims to make professional service robotics more accessible to consumers by showcasing autonomous cleaning, reception, and industrial sweeping robots in a real-world retail environment.

In healthcare, the JARVIS project, supported by Horizon Europe, is testing collaborative robots (cobots) at Klinikum Saarbrücken to automate the sorting of surgical instruments. Additionally, the University Medicine Oldenburg is using digital twin modeling to test automation in nursing homes. In the United States, Johnson & Johnson has completed the clinical FORTE study for its OTTAVA robotic surgery system, meeting primary safety and performance goals during gastric bypass procedures, leading to an FDA De-Novo application.
