Robson Calixto da Fonseca investigated for mediating parliamentary amendments

Robson Calixto da Fonseca, a militia member known as ‘Peixe’, is under investigation by the Federal Police for his role in mediating parliamentary amendments to a non-governmental organization (NGO) in Rio de Janeiro.

Investigations revealed that Calixto, who was previously convicted of criminal organization in the Marielle Franco murder case, used his connections to secure nearly R$ 200,000 for the Instituto de Formação Profissional José Carlos Procópio (Ifop). Messages found on his phone show him contacting an advisor to Senator Flávio Bolsonaro in October 2023 to request the funds, which were subsequently allocated to the NGO in November 2023.

In addition to the funds from Flávio Bolsonaro, the NGO also received resources from federal deputy Chris Tonietto and former deputy Chiquinho Brazão. The Federal Police are investigating whether these funds, intended for social actions, were actually used for their stated purposes. Calixto has a history of acting as an intermediary and ‘front man’ for the Brazão family and has been linked to irregular real estate businesses and militia extortion activities in Rio de Janeiro.
