Roc Nation struggles to book 2027 Super Bowl halftime headliner

Roc Nation and the NFL are reportedly struggling to secure a headliner for the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Sources close to the situation suggest that artists may be hesitant to accept the performance due to the potential for political scrutiny and fallout.

One factor cited is the political reaction to previous performances, such as the criticism directed at Bad Bunny’s 2026 set by Donald Trump. Additionally, recent controversies involving rapper Macklemore have added to the complexity. Macklemore was removed from remaining U.S. dates of Ed Sheeran’s tour following pro-Palestinian statements made at MetLife Stadium. Macklemore alleged that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft pressured organizers to remove him, a claim Kraft addressed by stating that Gillette Stadium would not provide a platform for what he described as a history of antisemitic rhetoric.

As a result of the difficulty in locking down a single headliner, organizers may consider a multi-artist show. There is speculation that Jay-Z could potentially lead such a performance alongside several guests if a primary headliner is not secured.
