Roca electrical equipment destroyed by vandals

A group of criminals destroyed and burned a medium-voltage electrical equipment unit in the western zone of Roca, Argentina. The equipment, valued at approximately $65 million pesos, was part of a project by the distributor EDERSA to improve service quality for more than 5,000 users, including industries, commercial sectors, and residential neighborhoods.

According to witnesses, the perpetrators arrived in a vehicle with a trailer, toppled the 1,500-kilogram device, and set it on fire after discovering it did not contain copper. Leonardo Mauritsh, EDERSA's Head of Operations and Maintenance, stated that the criminals likely targeted the unit for copper, unaware that the company has transitioned to using aluminum for such equipment to prevent similar incidents.

The destroyed automatic voltage regulator bank was intended to stabilize power levels during periods of high demand, particularly during the summer months when fruit industry activity and residential consumption increase. The affected area includes several neighborhoods such as J. J. Gómez, Alta Barda, Chacra Monte, and Colonia 17 de Octubre, as well as various rural sectors.
