Roccanova to host ‘Le Notti del Vino’ cultural event
The town of Roccanova will host ‘Le Notti del Vino’ (The Nights of Wine) on Saturday, August 29, starting at 20:00. The event features an enogastronomic tour through the historic center, designed to celebrate local wine culture, tradition, and community conviviality.
Part of the initiatives supported by the Associazione Nazionale Città del Vino, the event aims to transform the Lucanian village into a sensory itinerary of discovery. The historic center is notable for its hundreds of secular caves carved into sandstone, which serve as underground cellars with ideal conditions for wine maturation. These caves often still house ancient wooden barrels and traditional presses.
A central highlight is the Grottino wine, a DOC product with historical roots dating back to Roman and Magna Graecia eras. The wine is primarily produced from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malvasia Nera, and Montepulciano grapes, known for its robust character and intense ruby red color.
