Roccaraso train collision prompts parliamentary inquiry

Senator Gabriella Di Girolamo of the Movimento 5 Stelle has filed a parliamentary inquiry with the Ministers of Infrastructure and Labor following a serious railway accident in Roccaraso. The incident occurred on the morning of October 10, 2026, in the Palaghiaccio area.

The collision involved the Transiberiana d’Italia, a historical train operated by Ferrovia dei Parchi carrying approximately 400 tourists, and a construction vehicle. The impact resulted in injuries to three workers, one of whom is reported to be in serious condition.

Di Girolamo is seeking clarity regarding the authorization and coordination of works near the railway tracks, as well as whether train circulation should have been suspended or limited prior to the collision. The inquiry also aims to investigate the contractual, training, and social security compliance of the involved workers and the contracting company.
