Roccella Ionica citizens petition for restoration of medical services

The local group ‘Roccella in Comune – Prima le Persone’ has completed a petition drive to demand the restoration of adequate medical coverage for the Guardia Medica service in Roccella Ionica. The petition has been formally submitted to the ASP of Reggio Calabria, including the Director General, the Director of the Locride Health District, and the head of the Continuity of Care service.

Citizens expressed concern regarding the lack of continuity in this essential healthcare service, particularly during nighttime, holidays, and pre-holiday periods. The group noted that the Roccella Ionica station has suffered from numerous uncovered shifts for an extended period. While acknowledging the broader systemic difficulties and medical staff shortages within the healthcare system, the organizers are calling on responsible authorities to review service programming and implement all available tools to ensure dignified medical assistance for the community.
