Rocco Baldelli withdraws from Seattle Mariners managerial search
Rocco Baldelli has withdrawn from the Seattle Mariners’ search for a new manager, citing “family considerations at this moment in time,” according to reports from The Athletic. Baldelli, a highly credentialed candidate with seven seasons of major league managerial experience, was considered one of the most prominent outside options for the vacancy.
His withdrawal leaves Joe Espada and Jason Kanzler as the only publicly known names remaining in the process. While the Mariners have not officially confirmed a shortlist, the club is reportedly working to narrow a large initial list of candidates down to a small group of finalists.
Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto has indicated there is “no timeline” for the hire, though some reports suggested the organization hoped to complete the process by the end of October. The departure of a candidate with Baldelli's postseason experience places increased scrutiny on the organization's ability to secure a high-caliber leader.
