Nigeria: Court issues arrest warrants for Rochas Okorocha over alleged forgery
A Senior Magistrate Court in Abuja has issued nationwide bench warrants for the arrest of former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha, former Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, Timothy Ama Chuks, and Amen Okorocha. The individuals face charges of criminal conspiracy, forgery, and the presentation of false documents.
The warrants stem from allegations that the group forged All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election results for the Imo West (Orlu) senatorial district, falsely declaring Okorocha the winner of the May 18, 2026, primary. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally disowned the document, describing it as “fraudulent and fictitious.”
INEC maintains that the authentic results submitted by the APC identified sitting Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the undisputed winner. Consequently, the electoral commission has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate the matter to prevent potential breaches of law and order.
In response to the legal developments, the Imo First Group has characterized the reports of the arrest warrants as a “hoax” and “fake news,” challenging proponents of the story to produce the actual court orders.
