Roche and MedServe partner to expand diagnostic services in Nigeria

Roche Diagnostics and MedServe, a healthcare subsidiary of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA), have signed a five-year agreement to enhance laboratory services across Nigeria. The partnership aims to equip 12 laboratory sites with modern, automated diagnostic systems as part of the first phase of a broader program to expand access to diagnostic and oncology services.

The initiative seeks to decentralize quality healthcare and strengthen Nigeria’s domestic laboratory capacity, reducing reliance on external resources. The program will leverage existing HIV testing infrastructure to build additional capacity to meet national healthcare priorities. Installation at the first laboratory site is already underway.

MedServe will provide local leadership and investment, while Roche Diagnostics will supply laboratory systems and implementation support. MedServe Managing Director and CEO Dr. Tolulope Adewole stated that the initiative is vital for building a healthcare system capable of responding effectively to the diagnostic needs of the population.
