Rochester Fire Department extinguishes detached garage fire

The Rochester Fire Department responded to a fire in a detached garage in southeast Rochester on Thursday afternoon. Crews arrived at the 1100 block of 7th Ave. SE shortly after 2:45 p.m. to find smoke and flames coming from the structure.

Firefighters utilized a gas-powered saw to cut open the garage door to ventilate the building during the operation. The fire was contained to the detached garage, though the interior and its contents sustained fire damage. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The Rochester Fire Marshals Division is investigating the cause of the blaze.
