Rochester General Hospital under investigation over H-1B visa claims

Rochester General Hospital in New York is under scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Labor following social media allegations regarding the use of foreign labor. An account named ‘Expose H1B Fraud’ claimed that out of 82 resident doctors employed by the hospital, 80 are foreign nationals holding H-1B or J-1 visas, leaving only two positions held by Americans.

Anthony D'Esposito, the Inspector General for the Department of Labor, addressed the claims on X, demanding data to determine how many residency slots were allocated to visa holders and whether American applicants received fair opportunities. D'Esposito noted that President Trump’s executive orders have placed visa abuse under intense scrutiny.

If evidence of fraud is found, D'Esposito stated his office would coordinate with the White House Fraud Task Force led by Vice President JD Vance. This investigation follows broader administration efforts to prevent companies from laying off American workers only to replace them with foreign staff via H-1B visas.
