Rochester Institute of Technology researchers develop Krylov tomography
Researchers at the Rochester Institute of Technology have developed Krylov tomography, a new framework designed to improve how scientists access and measure exceptional point dynamics in non-Hermitian systems.
In these systems, multiple eigenvalues and eigenvectors merge into a single state. The new method uses time-resolved measurements and theoretical models with explicit uncertainty bounds to distinguish between dynamics that are physically excited and those that only exist mathematically. This addresses a limitation where experimental preparation or detector limitations, such as “detector darkness,” might lead researchers to overestimate or misinterpret the accessible dynamics of a system.
