Rochester man arrested for attempted murder in August shooting

A 19-year-old man, Suh’cehs Kinder, has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred on Canal Street in Rochester, New York, on August 29. According to police, the incident was a domestic-related dispute that left an 18-year-old woman with serious gunshot wounds to her lower body. Officers applied a tourniquet at the scene before transporting her to Strong Memorial Hospital; her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Kinder was taken into custody by the Rochester Police Department’s Tactical Unit during a traffic stop on Ames Street on September 18. He faces charges of second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon regarding the Canal Street incident.

During the investigation, authorities uncovered evidence that Kinder also fired a weapon on Cottage Street on August 19. While no one was injured in that earlier incident, he faces additional charges of criminal possession of a weapon and prohibited use of a weapon. Kinder is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail on $100,000 bail.
