Rochester, Minnesota Enforces New RV Parking Restrictions

The City of Rochester, Minnesota, has clarified its parking rules for recreational vehicles (RVs) and campers. Under the Unified Development Code (Section 60.300.020G) and City Ordinance Sec. 11‑6‑23, RVs longer than 23 feet may not be parked on public streets for more than one hour, while those under 23 feet are permitted up to 24 hours. All recreational vehicles must be parked on a hard surface and are prohibited from front yards or unpaved areas.

Vehicles exceeding 18 feet in length or 7 feet in height must be stored at least 20 feet back from the curb when placed on a driveway. The city issued the guidance during the busy summer season, noting that Minnesota records roughly 31,500 motorized RVs and about 210,000 recreational trailers in the state.

Owners are advised to review the specific code sections to avoid violations while storing their RVs, boats, or other equipment on private property or streets in Rochester.
