Rochester murder suspect Ibrahim Abdi re-arrested on drug charges

Ibrahim Abdi, a 32-year-old murder suspect in Rochester, Minnesota, has been taken back into custody on new drug-related charges. Abdi was previously released on a $1 million bond while awaiting trial for murder.

According to Olmsted County records, Abdi was booked late Monday on suspicion of first-degree drug sales and possession. This follows recent legal issues, including charges for third-degree drug sales involving fentanyl and a felony DWI following an August 8 traffic stop. During that stop, authorities reportedly found oxycodone, prescription medication, a digital scale, and a large amount of cash.

The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office had previously expressed concerns regarding Abdi’s release, describing him as a “significant public safety risk” due to his pending murder charge and subsequent alleged offenses.
