Rochester preschooler found on school roof after contractor error
A preschool student was found on the roof of Mighty Oaks Early Learning School in Rochester, Minnesota, during afternoon pickup.
According to Rochester Public Schools, the incident occurred because a contractor working on the building failed to properly latch a gate to a restricted work area. This allowed the child to enter the zone and climb stairs leading to the roof.
School staff responded immediately and safely brought the child down. The district confirmed the child is safe and has contacted the family. Officials are currently conducting a full review with staff and the contractor to implement additional safeguards and ensure work areas are properly secured while contractors are on site.
