Rochester Public Utilities Finds No Cyberattack Evidence on Water System
Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) announced that its monitoring and operational teams have found no evidence of a cyberattack affecting the city's water‑service infrastructure, which supplies more than 42,000 customers.
The statement was issued amid reports of dozens of cybersecurity incidents targeting over 30 community water systems across Minnesota. RPU said it is working with state, federal and industry cybersecurity partners and will act if any related activity is detected. No service disruptions or customer advisories have been reported.
Minnesota IT Services has activated coordinated response capabilities for the broader series of attacks, noting that while some officials have mentioned a possible Iranian link, no specific actor has been identified.
