Rochester Public Utilities urges residents to schedule advanced water meter installations
Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) in Rochester, Minnesota is rolling out new advanced water meters for homes and businesses. The utility reports that only about 60% of customers in the targeted northwest area have scheduled an appointment, falling short of the 80‑90% response rate the program needs.
RPU officials are urging remaining customers to call the utility or use the RPU website’s interactive map to confirm eligibility and book a slot. Installations typically take only a few minutes, and homeowners can speed the process by clearing space around the existing meter. The current phase covers the region north of Highway 14 and west of Highway 52, between Valleyhigh Drive NW and West Circle Drive, with plans to expand to the rest of the city after this area is completed.
