Rochester Red Wings reclaim first place after slugfest win over Syracuse Mets
The Rochester Red Wings reclaimed first place in the International League’s second half following a 14-9 victory over the Syracuse Mets. In a high-scoring contest, Rochester hit six home runs, including two from Leandro Pineda and a three-run shot by Buddy Kennedy. Despite back-to-back home runs from Syracuse’s Ronny Mauricio and MJ Melendez, a seven-run eighth inning by Rochester secured the win.
In a separate double-header matchup against Syracuse, the Red Wings split their games. They won the first game 5-0 behind a strong pitching performance from Isaac Lyon, but lost the second game 7-4 after a walk-off home run by Syracuse catcher Hayden Senger. During the second game, Trey Lipscomb made history by hitting his 30th home run of the season, becoming the first Red Wing to reach that milestone since 1977.
Émilien Pitre also made headlines for the Mets, hitting his first Triple-A home run during the 14-9 loss.
