The City of Rochester has announced that starting January 1, 2027, it will begin charging a processing fee on card transactions for various city services. This decision follows reports that the city absorbed approximately $511,000 in processing fees in 2025.

For most services, the processing fee will be set at 3% of the total transaction. To avoid these charges, residents and visitors must pay using cash or check.

Regarding parking, the fee will not apply to parking ramps or transit services. However, a flat service fee equivalent to 3.0% of the transaction amount will be applied to street and metered parking.
