Rochester Woman Convicted of Disorderly Conduct After Racist Attack on Black Child

Shiloh Hendrix, a 37‑year‑old resident of Rochester, Minnesota, was found guilty of one count of disorderly conduct for a racist incident at the Roy Sutherland playground in Soldier’s Field Park. The confrontation began when Hendrix hurled racial slurs at a Black child who she alleged had taken something from another child's diaper bag, and she also directed the N‑word at the child's father, Shire Jimale. The incident, captured on video, went viral.

She was sentenced to three years of probation, a $1,000 fine and required to complete community service. Although she faced up to 90 days in jail, the court imposed no jail time provided she complies with probation. Rochester City Attorney Michael Spindler‑Krage said Hendrix admitted to hateful conduct toward a child with a disability and others. Her attorney, Brian Karalus, announced plans to appeal the decision. The trial featured testimony from Jimale and involved Assistant Chief Judge Christa M. Daily.
