Rochester woman sentenced for workplace knife threat

Josephina Iba Omerichamoi, 26, has been sentenced in Rochester, Minnesota, following a workplace dispute involving a knife. An Olmsted County judge ordered Omerichamoi to serve a 10-day jail sentence with work-release privileges and placed her on five years of probation. She also received a stayed 23-month prison sentence, which may be imposed if probation terms are violated.

The conviction follows a two-day trial in December, where a jury found her guilty of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault. The incident occurred in January 2024, when Omerichamoi allegedly brandished a pocketknife and pointed it at a coworker during a dispute. According to court documents, she blocked the exit of a manager's office while making threats. The confrontation ended after a manager intervened and instructed the parties to de-escalate.
