Rock and metal music history highlights major September album releases
September has historically been a significant month for the release of major rock and metal albums. Notable release dates include September 29, 1992, when Alice in Chains released ‘Dirt’ and Stone Temple Pilots released ‘Core’. Since their release, these albums have sold over 13 million copies in the United States, with ‘Core’ achieving eight-times platinum certification.
Other significant release milestones include Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’, which debuted on the same day as albums by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Pixies in 1991. A year prior, Megadeth’s ‘Rust in Peace’ and AC/DC’s ‘The Razor’s Edge’ were also released on that same date. Additionally, the month of September has seen the release of four solo albums by Ozzy Osbourne and five albums by Black Sabbath.
