Rock band Sponge reports theft of guitars and equipment in Maryland

The 1990s alternative rock band Sponge reported that several guitars and pieces of musical equipment were stolen from their trailer on Tuesday, October 20. The theft occurred while the band was staying at a Holiday Inn in the Maryland area following a performance at The Fillmore Silver Spring.

According to the band and their publicist, the stolen items include several Reverend guitars—specifically a vintage orange Reverend Commando, a black Reverend Pete Anderson Eastsider S, and an avocado-colored Reverend Warhawk—as well as a black Fender Stratocaster, a black Fender Jaguar bass, and a black Fender Precision bass.

The band, known for 1990s hits such as ‘Plowed’ and ‘Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain),’ is currently on tour opening for the band Candlebox. Members are still determining the full extent of the loss, and the public has been asked to share information regarding the stolen instruments.
