Rock bands featuring iconic songs performed by non-lead vocalists

Several iconic rock songs were performed by band members other than the group's primary vocalist.

Notable examples include Nirvana's “Marigold,” which was written and performed by drummer Dave Grohl on the album In Utero. Queen's folk-style track “'39” featured lead vocals from guitarist Brian May rather than Freddie Mercury.

Other instances include The Police's “On Any Other Day,” performed by drummer Stewart Copeland, and Weezer's “Cold Dark World,” sung by bassist Scott Shriner. Additionally, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones took the lead on the song “Happy.”
