Rock in Rio launches technology to rank loudest songs via audience engagement
Heineken and Spotify have launched ‘The Loudest Playlist’, a real-time ranking that measures audience intensity during the Rock in Rio 2026 festival. The initiative uses a combination of industrial decibel meters, high-precision seismographs, and artificial intelligence to track how fans react to performances.
Calvin Harris currently dominates the ranking, with his track ‘One Kiss’ holding the top position, followed by ‘This Is What You Came For’ and ‘Summer’. The British band Bring Me The Horizon holds the fourth and fifth spots with ‘Kingslayer’ and ‘Can You Feel My Heart’.
The measurement technology, developed by the agency LePub, captures physical reactions such as jumping, singing, and ground vibrations. Computer vision cameras monitor crowd movements like raised arms and hugs, while accelerometers on the ground record the mechanical impact of the audience on the soil. These data points are processed via AI to calculate an intensity index for each song.
