Rock music history milestones on September 15

September 15 marks several significant milestones and losses in rock music history. Notable achievements include the 1975 release of Foghat’s album ‘Fool for the City’, which featured the hit ‘Slow Ride’, and Led Zeppelin’s ‘In Through the Out Door’ reaching the top of the U.S. album charts in 1979.

In 1990, the Steve Miller Band saw a resurgence in popularity when ‘The Joker’ reached number one on the UK singles chart. On the technological side, 1965 saw the Ford Motor Company become the first automaker to offer eight-track tape players as an optional vehicle feature.

The date also commemorates the passing of Ramones founding member and guitarist Johnny Ramone in 2004, as well as the 1988 announcement of Dire Straits' breakup by frontman Mark Knopfler.
