Rockell Browne sentenced to four years for workplace attack
Rockell Browne has been sentenced to four years in prison following a 2022 workplace confrontation at the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board. Browne was found guilty of wounding after a judge-only trial in the High Court.
The incident involved Browne stabbing a female co-worker three times with a pair of scissors. While Browne faced a maximum potential sentence of 15 years, Justice John Spencer reduced the term to four years, citing mitigating circumstances such as Browne’s personal history and her children. The judge also ordered Browne to undergo anger-management counselling.
During the proceedings, Browne’s attorney, Wendel Alexander, highlighted her remorse and noted that the complainant’s injuries did not require an extended hospital stay. However, Justice Spencer noted that video footage showed Browne initiating the confrontation and questioned the timing of her apology, which occurred after the trial had concluded.
