Rocket Lab expands into Germany and secures $397M Space Force contract
Rocket Lab is significantly expanding its international presence and defense portfolio. The company has established Rocket Lab Germany GmbH to facilitate domestic production of satellites and critical components in Europe. This move follows the acquisition of Munich-based Mynaric, a specialist in laser communication systems, aiming to create a regional hub for space technology.
In the United States, Rocket Lab secured a $397 million contract from the U.S. Space Force to design, build, and launch a new satellite fleet known as ‘Flatellites’ under the SB-AMTI program. These compact satellites are designed for rapid threat detection and low-latency communication. This award brings the company’s total 2026 U.S. defense contracts to approximately $943 million.
Financially, Rocket Lab reported second-quarter revenue of $234 million, a 62% increase year-over-year, exceeding analyst estimates. While the company's stock experienced volatility due to cautious guidance regarding the timing of its upcoming Neutron rocket launch, analysts remain focused on its long-term revenue growth projections.
