German space company Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) is preparing to launch its three‑stage, 30 m tall RFA One rocket from SaxaVord Spaceport on the island of Unst, the northernmost point of the United Kingdom. After a week of pressurising the flight vehicle in preparation for a hot‑fire test, the company encountered an “issue” and decided to de‑stack the fully assembled vehicle to investigate and take corrective action.

The certified launch window is set to open on 10 August, with licences allowing launches on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays given a 24‑hour notice. If the launch proceeds, it would mark the first orbital launch of satellites from UK soil. The rocket is designed to deliver up to 1,300 kg to a sun‑synchronous orbit. RFA noted that a previous version of the rocket suffered an engine fire and exploded during a hot‑fire test at SaxaVord in August 2024. The spaceport has expressed its continued support for the client’s efforts.
