Rocket Lab expands defense contracts and attracts new institutional investors
Rocket Lab has transformed from a pure launch provider into a full‑spectrum space company, adding satellite production, integrated space‑system services and a growing portfolio of government contracts. The firm recently surpassed $1.3 billion in defense awards, including progress on a missile‑defense constellation, and continues development of its larger‑capacity Neutron rocket.
Institutional investors are increasing their stakes in the company. Geode Capital Management raised its holding to 1.69 % of outstanding shares, amounting to about $627 million. Other investors, such as Fidelis Capital Partners, Flputnam Investment Management, Integrity Advisory Solutions, Arvest Bank Trust, and Revere Asset Management, also added new positions or increased existing ones during the fourth quarter. The ownership structure now shows roughly 72 % held by hedge funds and other institutional investors.
Analysts maintain a largely positive outlook, with the majority issuing buy recommendations for Rocket Lab, reflecting optimism about its expanding role in both commercial satellite markets and the U.S. defense sector.
