Rocket Lab sees record backlog and institutional interest amid stock volatility

Rocket Lab USA is experiencing significant market activity characterized by both institutional interest and stock price volatility. Cim Investment Management Inc. recently acquired 13,761 shares valued at approximately $1.39 million, contributing to a high level of institutional ownership which stands at roughly 71.78%.

Analysts have provided mixed outlooks. Cantor Fitzgerald reiterated an Overweight rating with a $122 price target, citing the company’s launch cadence and reliability as competitive advantages. Conversely, some investors remain cautious due to the company’s ongoing losses, the pending closure of the Iridium deal, and the fact that the larger Neutron reusable rocket has yet to fly.

Despite recent trading fluctuations, the company maintains a record backlog of $2.36 billion as of midyear, representing a 137% increase year-over-year. The total share count is expected to rise toward 700 million following the Iridium acquisition and various share sales.
