Rocketeer Cars unveils Jaguar V6 conversion for Mazda MX-5

British tuner Rocketeer Cars has unveiled a V6 conversion for the Mazda MX-5 NC, debuting the project at the Goodwood Revival. The conversion replaces the standard four-cylinder engine with a 3.0-liter Jaguar AJ30 V6.

This aluminum engine, part of the Ford-Jaguar Duratec family with development roots involving Porsche and Cosworth, has been tuned to produce 304 horsepower. The modification utilizes a carbon plenum, a specific throttle body, and a freer exhaust system.

Rocketeer emphasizes that the re-engineering process preserves the vehicle's original handling characteristics. The swap is designed to maintain the factory 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution without requiring modifications to the bulkhead or subframe. The company offers this as a turnkey kit, with build slots currently being allocated through 2027.
