Rockhampton Bypass project reaches major construction milestones

The Rockhampton Bypass project in Queensland, Australia, has reached significant milestones, with approximately 90% of the site access road system now complete. A joint venture between ACCIONA and Fulton Hogan has utilized 38,567 truck trips to transport 1.31 million tonnes of material for land reclamation and construction.

The project involves the construction of an 11.3 km highway through the Fitzroy River floodplain, intended to connect with the Bruce Highway west of Rockhampton. In addition to the highway, the development includes 11 bridges. To date, 696 piles have been installed for the bridge structures, and roughly 70% of the required piles have been manufactured.

Construction is currently progressing on several fronts, including the Capricorn Highway connection bridge, which is 23% complete. Following the completion of the access roads, the project will move into an 18-month phase focused on the transport and installation of Super-T beams for the bridge systems.
