Grand Theft Auto VI launch confirmed as digital‑only, pre‑orders open worldwide

Rockstar Games announced that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The launch will be 100 % digital: the so‑called “physical” editions are boxed copies that contain only a download code, with no Blu‑ray disc. Rockstar confirmed that a support email referring to a “physical copy” meant this code‑in‑a‑box version.

Take‑Two Interactive will include a free month of the GTA+ subscription with the standard $80 edition, and the Ultimate Edition adds exclusive vehicles, weapons and other content. Pre‑orders opened on 25‑26 June 2026, with regional prices ranging from €80 in France to about 349 000 COP for the standard edition in Colombia. Retailers warned that the surge in GTA VI demand could strain console supplies, prompting advice to purchase PS5 or Xbox Series X|S early.

The digital‑only strategy has sparked both marketing stunts—such as a Norwegian retailer offering a free GTA 6 copy to parents who have a baby on the launch day—and a wave of scams, with cyber‑criminals setting up fraudulent sites promising early “beta” access for cryptocurrency payments. Rumors of a later disc release have been debunked by multiple sources, confirming that Rockstar has no plans to press physical discs now or in the months after launch.
