Rockstar Games addresses GTA VI leaks and announces Netflix presentation
Rockstar Games has officially addressed the recent wave of unauthorized gameplay leaks for Grand Theft Auto VI. The studio described the situation as “heartbreaking” for the development team, noting that the leaked footage was not the intended way for the community to experience the game. Despite the security breach, Rockstar confirmed that the project is in an advanced stage of development and the official release date remains November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
To regain control of the narrative, Rockstar has announced a unique marketing strategy. A presentation titled “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” is scheduled to premiere on August 27, 2026. The content will be available exclusively to Netflix subscribers for a six-hour window before being released for free on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and website. This special will reportedly offer deeper insights into the game’s characters, such as Lucia and Jason, and the setting of Leonida.
The leaks, attributed to an entity known as CyberLeek, have included various clips of gameplay, maps, and character interactions. In response, Take-Two Interactive is investigating the source of the leaks and has initiated legal actions, including requests to Microsoft and Discord to help identify those responsible.
