Rockstar Blocks GTA Online Casino Gambling for Australian Players

Rockstar Games has disabled all gambling‑style mini‑games in the Diamond Casino & Resort for players whose accounts are registered in Australia. The restriction, discovered in late July 2026, prevents access to blackjack, roulette, three‑card poker, slots, horse‑racing bets and the free Lucky Wheel. A dataminer identified a new geographic flag in the game code that blocks these features for Australian users, but Rockstar has offered no public comment or patch note.

The move coincides with Australia’s recent tightening of rules on simulated gambling in video games. Updated classification standards, introduced in September 2024 and reinforced by online‑safety legislation in early 2026, require any game with gambling‑like content to carry an R18+ rating and, in some cases, to restrict access. While GTA Online already holds an R18+ rating, the new regulations appear to have prompted Rockstar to pre‑emptively block the casino functions. Australian players can still enter the casino, exchange chips and collect daily free chips, but they cannot place bets.

Australia now joins roughly 50 other territories where the GTA Online gambling features are unavailable, a list that includes Poland, Argentina, Greece and South Africa. The lack of an official explanation has led to speculation that the block is a precaution against potential legal challenges as the franchise prepares for the upcoming GTA VI launch later this year.
