Rockstar Games reveals Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay and release date
Rockstar Games has released an extensive 26-minute gameplay look at Grand Theft Auto VI, providing the first detailed view of the upcoming title. The footage, which premiered on Netflix before moving to YouTube, showcases the game's advanced graphics, detailed environments in Vice City, and enhanced character animations.
Key gameplay revelations include a new criminal profile system where player actions influence character development and world reactions. The story follows a central duo, Lucia and Jason, in a narrative inspired by Bonnie and Clyde. Developers have also introduced more complex vehicle theft mechanics and highly reactive NPC AI.
Rockstar confirmed that the single-player campaign will launch without microtransactions and was developed without the use of generative AI. The game is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. To ensure cultural authenticity, the studio even deployed a dedicated research team to Miami to study the local environment and culture.
