Rockstar Games employees urge fans not to boycott GTA 6
Former Rockstar Games employees are urging fans not to boycott the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 release. Instead, the developers are asking for support through the purchase of union-branded merchandise to fund their ongoing legal battle against the company.
The dispute involves 34 former employees—31 in the UK and three in Canada—who were dismissed last year. The Independent Workers Union of Great Britain (IWGB) claims the dismissals were a retaliatory act of union-busting. Conversely, Rockstar Games maintains the terminations were due to gross misconduct involving the leaking of confidential information and unannounced game features on Discord.
The final hearing for the legal proceedings is scheduled to take place in Glasgow next month. The IWGB has launched a campaign selling solidarity T-shirts, with all proceeds going toward the legal defense fund for the affected workers.
